Simple is not synonymous with boring. Hopefully by now you accept that as a given. I suppose you could argue that a fitted denim jumpsuit isn’t exactly simple, but in my wardrobe, a one-piece look is about as minimal as it gets. The challenge, unsurprisingly, is not to go overboard with the rest of the outfit. Sartorial restraint is its own statement.

Simplicity Can Be Powerful
If you’re looking to pull off a photo-worthy look with just a couple of pieces, there’s a few things to keep in mind. First, and possibly foremost, is to make sure the fit is right. Whether you’re going for fitted and sleek, as I am here, or oversized, structured, or slouchy, make sure you are wearing the outfit, and not the other way around. This is truly my #1 rule when styling any look, but especially a minimal one.
Next, make sure you don’t overwhelm the look with too much extra “stuff”. I don’t often match my shoes to my purse, but when I do, its to make sure the look stays simple and put together.
I couldn’t resist adding a little bling in the form of some arm bangles, but that’s where I made myself stop with the accessorizing. Its ok to have a little fun, just remember that you’re going for cohesion here, not glitz.
On that note, I’m keeping this how-to simple as well. There’s really no need to do more, or say more. Give a look like this a shot, just remember not to overdo it.
XOXO,
